Heigh-Ho, Heigh-Ho – It’s Off to Work We Go

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men. Colossians 3:23

“The Bible begins talking about work as soon as it begins talking about anything—that is how important and basic it is.” – Tim Keller

“The gospel frees us from the relentless pressure of having to prove ourselves and secure our identity through work, for we are already proven and secure.” – Tim Keller

“You should expect to be regularly frustrated in your work even though you may be in exactly the right vocation.” – Tim Keller

The average person will spend 90,000 hours at work over a lifetime. So, as Christ followers, how should we think about our work? We will be thinking through this issue this month in Iron Leadership. To help clarify your thoughts on the subject, I suggest you read the book Every Good Endeavor by Tim Keller. I have also linked you to a talk he delivered on the topic of faith and work that you will enjoy and benefit from listening to: Timothy Keller – Faith and Work.

Additionally, you might enjoy surfing this website about the intersection of faith and work; there are some very inspiring stories such as this one about Faith at Apple

I hope our conversations and these resources help you have a clearer understanding of the importance of your 90,000 hours of work!
